BURLINGTON, Mass. --(BUSINESS WIRE)-- William Schawbel, founder and owner of Schawbel Technologies LLC and the ThermaCELL Heated Products line, announced that it has entered into a strategic relationship with Heat Factory USA, the leading US brand of air activated disposable warmers and heated apparel.  Heat Factory USA will have an exclusive license to Schawbel’s heated products patented technology in the United States and Canada and will assume the day-to-day management of Schawbel’s existing heated products business.

Launched in 2012, ThermaCELL Heated Insoles were a new heated footwear product that incorporated wireless thermal technology and state-of-the-art materials.  The product line has been extended over the past five years to include insoles with removable/rechargeable lithium ion polymer batteries, extra flexibility, USB charging, water resistance, and Bluetooth capabilities along with rechargeable hand and pocket warmers.

“The addition of the ThermaCELL Heated Products to Heat Factory’s product offerings expands the options available to the consumer for head-to-toe warming solutions”, stated William Schawbel, founder and president of Schawbel Technologies.  “With the integration of the two lines, we can now offer a price point solution for any budget and need – disposables and rechargeables with controlled heat settings at an economical per-use advantage.  Our products have offered consumers a reliable body-heating source and now we can continue that history by being able to make available a broader line of products, and going forward, having Heat Factory bring to market new and innovative products using our patented technology.”

Announcing the Formation of Schawbel Technologies LLC

November 7, 2017 08:00 AM Eastern Daylight Time

BURLINGTON, Mass. --(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Schawbel Group, LLC today announced that it has entered into an exclusive option agreement with Tufts University.  The agreement relates to Tufts’ patent pending formulation that can provide the basis for a new generation of food products in the form of a nutritional supplement for the prevention and treatment of moderate acute malnutrition (MAM) focused on enhancing cognitive performance.

Currently, cognitive impairment associated with early childhood malnutrition and stunting is generally considered irreversible.  However, a scientist from Tufts University believes that cognitive damage may be reversible for children younger than five with the right nutrition, and that it may have potential for use even in the U.S. where poor dietary habits are common in children.  Furthermore, the researchers hope to test the formulation to see if it may be effective for delaying aging-related cognitive decline.

William Schawbel, founder and owner of Schawbel Group, LLC, has been working closely with Susan B. Roberts, PhD.  Dr. Roberts is professor at the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts and professor of psychiatry at Tufts University School of Medicine.  Dr. Roberts has been the Principal Investigator and designed the nutritional formulation and co-designed the products for testing.  She supervised intervention trials conducted in Guinea-Bissau.  This investigative phase of the project started in 2014 and the series of studies will be completed in December of 2017.  The project to date has been funded by Tufts with major contributions from Mr. Schawbel’s family’s philanthropic foundation.  He has also provided pro bono consulting services from his company.  The formulation used in this research project is the subject of a pending patent application.

Schawbel has contractual rights over a period of time to obtain an exclusive worldwide license to this patent application and the formulation it claims.  Schawbel Group will be actively pursuing commercial partners to complete the research and based on positive findings, create a product line and introduce it into the global marketplace.
